A 26 year old woman was killed while watching neighborhood teen groups engaged in a street brawl from the terrace of their house in Quezon City. The police officers identified the victim as a 26 years old native of Southern Leyte resident of Ninada Street Barangay Commonwealth Quezon City. The victim was hit by a bullet from a gun of unknown caliber squarely in the forehead which lodged in the brain. She was later declared dead on arrival at the hospital. The reports said that the two groups of feuding rival gangs in the neighbor were engaged in a street brawl and the victim decided to find out what was happening on the street down below. The victim’s aunt said she first heard a gunshot and then saw her niece collapse. When she saw blood on her forehead she sought help from her neighbor who took her to the nearest hospital. The suspect remained identified.
A drunken truck helper who had fallen asleep in a videoke bar was stabbed dead by a man who followed him into the establishment in Quezon City. A 32 years old victim died of multiple stab wounds. The police said that the victim was rushed to the hospital with the knife used to kill him embedded in his neck. The victim is a resident of barangay payatas B, worker as a dump truck helper. The police started looking for his attacker who was described as around five feet in height and of medium build. The witnesses said then suspect was dressed in a white undershirt and a pair of blue jogging pants. He had put a handkerchief on his face to hide his identity. Police said that the suspect followed the victim inside the videoke bar at the corner of Bulacan Street and Payatas at around 2 a.m. because the victim was drunk the victim fell asleep on a table near the door of the establishment. The suspect then took out a knife and stabbed the victim repeatedly. The victim woke up and tried to defend himself but his attacker kept on stabbing him before fleeing in a tricycle headed in the direction of Payatas Road. The police said that it is possible that the victim and his attacker had been involved in an earlier tiff before the former entered the bar and fell asleep. A witness rushed the victim to the hospital and was declared dead on arrival.
A housewife and a business killed themselves in separate incidents in Quezon City on Christmas Eve and Christmas morning. 30 years old a resident of Ilocos Sur street in barangay Bago Bantay reportedly shot herself in the head. A relative of the victim’s husband discovered the victim’s body in the master bedroom on the second floor of the house. The relative had gone up after hearing a gunshot coming from the room at around 10:30 a.m. It said the mother of the victim passed away earlier this year and she was mourned deeply. It said that the victim sustained a gunshot wound in the left temple with bullet exiting through the right temple; police recovered a .45 caliber Spartan pistol and a spent shell near the victim’s body.
In another part of Quezon City, a businessman reportedly jumped from the sixth floor of a condominium building in barangay Bagong Lipunan before dawn. The victim occupied a unit at the building. The building’s maintenance man told police he found the victim’s body on the ground floor near the swimming pool at around 5:30 a.m. The victim’s family told police they are convinced there was no foul involved in the incident.
A couple and four construction workers died when the jeepney they were riding plunged into a river at least 15 meters deep in Sta, Rosa City. Police said that the victims who had come from Quezon City were cruising a road in barangay Malitlit when there passenger type jeepney malfunctioned sending it plunging into the river.
A tricycle who was trying to make ends meet by working overtime met an untimely death after a car driven by a female driver smashed her vehicle towards him toppling the trike on its side in Quezon City. The fatality was 24 year old and resident of Pechayan Maligaya Caloocan City was driving a tricycle for a living in Quezon City. Quezon City police investigators said that at 12:30 a.m a Honda CRV cruising along the northern portion of Katipunan Avenue when she accidentally rammed the tricycle driven by the victim. Due to the extreme force the victim body fell to the pavement as his body was dragged like a mangled rug doll several meters away from the point of impact while his tricycle toppled on its side after hitting the concrete barriers on the U-turn slot of the roadway.
Two men who pretended to be workers from a cable television company hogtied and robbed the occupants of a house in Barangay Kaligayahan Quezon City. Reported the robbery at their house on Salva Street in St. Dominic Subdivision. Police said the heist happened at around 2:30 p.m. according to a police report two men alighted from a white Mitsubishi Adventure and knocked at the gate of the residence. The suspects succeeded in convincing the occupants to let them enter the house and inspect the cable line. Once inside the robbers hogtied the victims using lengths of telephone cord. They ransacked the house and carted away P45, 000 an Apple iPod worth P8, 000 and HP laptop worth P20, 000. Nike shoes worth P1, 600; a Guess watch worth P15, 000; eyeglasses worth P2, 000; assorted jewelry worth P20, 000 and other valuables.
A loud crash awakened residents near Ever Gotesco Mall along the Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City when a passenger bus rammed a concrete fence around 6 a.m. an injured passenger told that the bus driver drove so fast and eventually lost control causing the bus fell on its side and slammed into the iron fence of the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) the driver and conductor of the bus fled the area. No one died in the incident, injured passengers meanwhile left the area before the police investigators arrived it said that the bus will be brought to the impounding office for further investigation.
A woman was injured after she was hit by a taxi in Litex Road in Quezon City. The report said that the victim was lying in the road when a taxi accidentally hit her; the incident happened around 3 a.m. the victim suffered minor injuries in her hands and feet and she was immediately rushed to a hospital for treatment. The taxi driver immediately fled.
Some 1.5 million worth of suspected shabu was seized by authorities in a buy-bust operation in Quezon City. The drug task force said that some 300 grams of drugs was seized from a house in Project 7, Quezon City around 10:30. The house is allegedly owned by the suspect that identified as a certain Ranier Pungatan. The police also confiscated a bank book from the suspect which supposedly contained some P500, 000. Before the actual buy-bust operation authorities conducted a surveillance operation on the suspect residence. A poseur-buyer lured the suspect to enter into a drug deal with the former. Then the authorities stormed the residence of the suspect and arrest him.
A passenger bus rammed into a concrete barrier on the southbound part of Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City. It is said in the report that the Mersan bus was playing the Fairview in Quezon City-Ayala in Makati route when the accident happened near the Commonwealth Elementary School. The bus carrying 10 passengers but they were unhurt. The bus driver said that he did not notice the barrier as it was still dark. The report added as the door was damaged; the passenger exited the bus through the windows.
A 17 year old boy collecting melted candles inside the Manila North Cemetery was mauled and stabbed to death by four street gang members on the eve of All Saint’s commemoration. The chief superintendent ordered the deployment of some 500 policemen to secure the cemeteries in the city. The police identified the victim as a resident in barangay Paang Bundok, La Loma, Quezon City. The victim was died on the spot due to two stab wound in the body and severe injuries caused by heavy beating. The police have launched a hunt for at least members of the notorious M-town street gang. The report said that the victim and his friends were collecting melted candles when the suspects approached them. Without warning the street gang beat them. The victim and his friends were able to run and scampered in different places but the victim was later cornered by four men who mauled and stabbed him. One of the victim companions shouted for helped that called the barangay officials in a nearby Bantay Bayan outpost. When the authorities responded the four attackers were already gone leaving the victim dead and sprawled on the pavement. The police are still investigating for the motive of the incident
