Soldier dies, another hurt in North Cotabato grenade blast

A soldier died while another was injured when a grenade exploded in outpost of the 7th Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army in north Cotabato. The incident happened around 8 p.m. in a village in Kabacan town. The initial investigation said that the two motorcycle riding men threw the grenade to the soldiers. A shooting incident followed that killed the soldier and injured the other one soldier. Operations are ongoing to arrest the suspects.

7 hurt in SM Bicutan grenade blast

Seven people including a three year old child were injured when a four armed men lobbed a hand grenade at the foot of an escalator after robbing a jewelry shop inside the SM Bicutan mall in Parañaque City. The grenade went off while the robbers were making their escape after carting away a still undetermined amount of cash and jewelry from Oro China Jewelry. The police investigators were reviewing footages from the mall’s security cameras to possibly identify the robbers whom witnesses. The police told that one of the suspects entered the store and pretending one of the customers. The investigation showed that the suspects entered the mall and went directly to Oro China Jewelry store. Once they get inside they destroyed the glass display rack of the establishment and carted away undetermined amount of jewelry. On their way out one of them hurled the grenade which exploded at the escalator at lower ground floor of the mall that resulted to injuries to shoppers. The victims were brought to the nearby hospital where they were treated of shrapnel wounds. The robbers left behind the hammer they used which turned out to have been bought that same day by the robbers at the nearby Ace Hardware Store inside the mall. The investigators were asking the mall security how the robbers were able to take in a grenade inside.
