A reporter was injured after fighting against cellphones thieves in Cotabato City. A reporter was walking at the corner of Bonifacio and Don Rufino Alonzo Street in Poblacion 6 when two men approached and attempted to grab his mobile phone. The reporter reportedly resisted prompting one of the suspects to attack him with knife. The victim was brought to a hospital in the city as he sustained injuries in his right arm and lower back. Manhunt operations have been launched against the suspects.
Operatives of the Cagayan de Oro City police office recently conducted a simultaneous operation against the proliferation of alleged illegal lotto outlets in the city. The operation resulted in the round up of at least four illegal lotto outlets in barangays Lapasan, Kauswagan, and Carmen and the arrest of three persons. Arrested were a 21 years old a native of Polomolok in General Santos City; a 18 years old, single a native of General Santos City and a 28 years old from Cotabato City. According to the statement of the City Police lotto outlets and the arrested persons allegedly engaged in illegal gambling operation particularly the proliferation of ‘mercury and pioneer’ with no corresponding papers from the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office. Recovered from their possessions are volumes of gambling materials such as rolls of cash register receipts, sets of computer with central processing units, printer and power supply converter, black and red ball pens, calculators, booklets\stubs marked with mercury and pioneer, tally sheets, carbon papers and bet cash of money. The suspects will consequently be charged with violation of the Act Increasing the Penalties for Illegal Numbers Games.
A man was arrested in Cotabato City for alleged possession of materials used in making an improvised explosive device (IED). The Cotabato City police identified the suspect as 32 years old of Maimbung Sulu but currently residing in Barangay Mother Bagua, Cotabato City. The authorities said they apprehended the suspicious-looking suspect after they were alerted by a village watch man that he tried evading a police checkpoint at Barangay Mother Bagua. Seized from the suspect were a kilogram of a chemical suspected to be ammonium nitrate and three improvised blasting caps containing high explosives substances. Two sticks of matches to be used as triggering devices were also found in the suspect’s possession. The police said that the arrested suspect would be charged with illegal possession of explosives for violating Republic Act 9516. Further investigation is being conducted as of posting time to determine the suspect motive for keeping such illegal materials.
In the Davao City, six people are arrested of the gang raping a 21 year old nurse in Upi town in Maguindanao province last Saturday evening. The Maguindanao Governor ordered to arrest the suspects.
In Saturday evening the victim was walking from the store to the hospital when six allegedly led by her. The suspects bring her at the back of the hospital and turn raping into the victim. The suspects hit the victim into her head with the piece of wood and stone. And the next morning the victim was found and directly brought into the Cotabato City where she remains in critical condition.
The victim is a volunteer nurse and it is her first assignment in Barangay Nuro in Upi town of Maguindanao. The governor of Maguindanao assured to the family of victim that justice will be given to the victim and to the family. And the investigators demanded that there is no whitewash will be happen in this case.
The victims family and relatives are also has fear for the safety knowing the suspects are the wealthy politicians and sons of some police officers. The police now are securing the victims hospital room.
