Isabela landslides, heavy flooding kill 6

Six people including a five month old baby were killed in Isabela after five days of continuous rains caused landslides and heavy flooding in the province. Six people have been confirmed dead by the authorities due to landslides and floods caused by the rains the casualties included a five month old baby and her mother, the two were died in a landslide in the mountainous area of Barangay Libertad in San Mariano town. Two of the baby’s older sisters were also killed in the landslide. A man also was killed in a landslide in nearby Barangay Dipusu, also in San Mariano town. It is also added that another person drowned in flood waters in Benito Soliven town. The governor of Isabela said that the provincial government is currently conducting rescue operations in affected areas with help of the local police and military forces. Some residents remain stranded in their respective houses in Casiguran because of the high level of flood waters in the area ranging from three to five feet major roads leading to the town also remain impassable to all types of vehicles due to either high waters level, landslides or washed out roads. Classes have earlier suspended in Cagayan province after heavy rains forced 9,000 locals to go different evacuation centers in the area.
