Five million shabu seized in Cebu

The police arrested a woman and confiscated a pack of what they believed to be a five million worth of shabu in a buy bust operation. They caught the 25 year old woman inside the room of number 824 of Travelers’ Lodge in Barangay Carreta, in this city. The woman told to the reporters that she was lured into selling drugs by the pressure of having a child to feed and sickly grandmother to attend to. She also claimed that her husband was on jail in Muntinlupa for a case of human trafficking. The suspect woman it said that it was in Manila port area where a Chinese man told her to deliver the one kilogram pack to Cebu. She arrived in Cebu by boat after a stop in Ormoc, how she managed to sneak the pack past two vessel inspections was not clear detail. When the suspect here in Cebu she was negotiating with police operative of not knowing, it also allegedly agreed to bring down her asking price from 5 million to 3 million. The fake buyer gave the suspect P4, 000 in real bills, stacked on top of plain paper bundles, the suspect in turn and gave the pack. And that when the police arrested her. The police turned over the confiscated evidence to the crime laboratory, for verification. The woman will be charged for violating Section 5 of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. Under the law, the sale of dangerous drugs is punishable by life imprisonment as well as a fine ranging from P500, 000 to P10, million.
