Isabela under state of calamity due to “Juan”

The province of Isabela was placed under a state of calamity after super-typhoon Juan (Megi) made landfall there before noon Monday. The office of Civil Defense Cagayan Valley said that they expected heavy damaged to the province’s like crops, power and communication. Cagayan and Isabela were placed under the signal no.4. The storm signal no.4 remained hoisted in the provinces of Cagayan, Isabela, Kalinga, Mt. Province, and La Union before making its way out of Ilocos Sur on Tuesday. The public was advised to be vigilant and make the necessary precautions against Juan, which loomed to be the strongest howler. There was zero visibility in Isabela and the winds was so powerful that people could not take more that a step at a time. The super typhoon Juan is now whipping up huge and toppling electricity poles, cutting off power, phone and internet services in many areas in the northern Luzon. The classes and outdoor activities were cancelled and the officials are advised the families to have one person stay awake overnight for any contingency. The Ships and fishing vessels were told to stay at port and the several domestic flights of Air Philippines, SeaAir, Cebu Pacific, and Philippines Airlines were cancelled. The number of evacuees is also increasing with more residents fleeing their homes and moving to school buildings and town halls that were into evacuation centers.
Super typhoon Juan is still packing maximum winds of 225 kilometers per hour (kph) and gustiness of 260 kph. Placed under signal number 3 are the Babuyan Group of Islands, Calayan Group of Islands, Northern Aurora, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Bengeut, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Abra, La Union, and Apayao. Signal number 2 was raised in Polillio Island, Nueva Ecija, Pangasinan, Tarlac, Batanes Group, and the rest of Aurora while signal number 1 remained in Cavite, Bulacan, Pampanga, Bataan, Zambales, Northern Quezon, Metro Manila, Rizal, Laguna, and Batangas. Rescue boats and thousands of food packs have been pre-positioned near in vulnerable areas.
