Testing the Professional Waters
I love tests. I should rephrase that to say that I love tests where I understand the material being tested. I certainly don't mean to imply that I'm the "raise your hand at the end of class and ask for extra homework kind of person" -- far from it. But I see the value in tests and I usually fare pretty well when I understand what is being tested. The rough definition of a test is a critical evaluation designed to determine knowledge or ability. So if you have the knowledge or ability, tests should be challenging, but they certainly aren't something to fear.

Right now, the issues of gender, a high-performing workforce, the skills gap, demographics, and the growing confidence of emerging-market multinationals are all converging at a time of great uncertainty. This translates into increased opportunity for emerging markets -- and increased pressure for established ones.
