Company results, data lift Wall St; HP rises late
NEW YORK (Reuters) - Stronger-than-expected corporate results and upbeat economic data drove U.S. stocks higher on Wednesday as they fed expectations the recovery will bolster corporate profits.

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway Inc (BRKa.N)(BRKb.N) reported lower stakes in ConocoPhillips (COP.N), Johnson & Johnson (JNJ.N) and Procter & Gamble Co (PG.N) in the fourth quarter, reducing several of its biggest investments as it prepared to complete its takeover of railroad company Burlington Northern Santa Fe Corp.

Oil hovers above $74 amid light holiday trading
Oil prices hovered above $74 a barrel Monday, supported by strong economic growth in Japan but held in check by a stronger dollar. Trading volume was light, however, due to holidays in Asia and the United States.

Congress looks at foreign influence in U.S. elections
WASHINGTON - In the wake of the recent Supreme Court ruling that ended most restrictions on corporate funding in elections, a congressional panel was asked Wednesday to enact greater limits on the influence of foreign companies in U.S. elections.
