Karzai relents to UN demand over elections watchdog
KABUL (AFP) - Afghan President Hamid Karzai has agreed to let two non-Afghans join the country's elections watchdog ahead of September polls, a spokesman said on Saturday after pressure from Western backers.

Gunmen storm US charity in Pakistan, kill five
PESHAWAR, Pakistan (AFP) - Militants armed with guns and grenades stormed the offices of a US-based Christian charity in Pakistan on Wednesday, killing five aid workers in an attack blamed on Islamist insurgents.
